Westworld Again

I’m currently in the middle of a Westworld re-watch and it’s still waaay better than most current TV. If you look at the cast above, you can see a lot of that’s due to the calibre of actor on the show.

There are no bad actors on Westworld, no wooden extras that ruin the immersion of a scene. Ironically, this is one setup where you could probably get away with a wooden extra.

I had worried that the storyline wouldn’t hold up on re-watch but as much as I tried to pick it apart or find holes, knowing this time round where it was heading, I couldn’t. It’s the antithesis of Lost’s absolute waste of time.

Some of the AI stuff is TOO on point. Just a decade early but peculiarly horrible in the way that real life is horrible today. If you never saw it or haven’t re-watched it lately, binge #WestworldTVSeries. Apart from being great telly, it’s incredibly prophetic re-AI, warfare, social media. Most disturbingly, it feels like the AI billionaire overlords, Thiel, Altman et al, are using it as blueprint and not as a warning. 

I wish there was more telly of this quality around now, teevee firmly aimed at an adult audience and that makes no compromises. AND that doesn’t use the goldfish exposition style of streaming series where they expect you to be watching while scrolling on your phone.
