The Plastic Constellations

This week’s top new tune was ‘East Cleveland’ by The Plastic Constellations. It’s a brilliant rock track, full of energy and with a great riffy bit at the end that just makes you want to throw yourself on the floor, wailing and flailing. There’s a lot of bands out there trying to get this amount of energy on record but most fail quite spectacularly compared to TPC. The album this track is from, Mazatlan, is also well worth checking out if you have any liking for shouty yet melodic music.

The best old tune was The Last Post‘s ‘Until The Heart Gives Way.’ It’s from one of the classic lost pop albums, Love Lost. And if you want to hear it for yourself, you can download the entire album, for free, from the band’s own website. I must say, I’m a bit puzzled by this as I think Alan Kelly (the bloke behind The Last Post) is a truly great songwriter so why he’d want to give away all his work for free, I dunno. Perhaps he’s won the lottery or something?
