I think I’m getting a bit bored of the trog over to Nottingham. I know I’m more than bored with the gauntlet of monkeybrained pissheads that flank my path to the Rescue Rooms. But… when there’s nowhere to go in Derby on Saturday night, what choice do I have? Plus, the DJs still play some top tunes. As I just got there, they played Devo’s ‘Peekaboo’ which I’ve never heard in a club. Ever. Also top marks for playing non-obvious Pavement and Sonic Youth songs. It did make me a bit wistful hearing ‘Reasons To Be Cheerful, Part 3’ again. A great pop song not often heard.
On the downside, if I have to suffer Jet, The White Stripes or the cocking Strokes one more time, I’ll saw my head off. It’d be nice to hear some new stuff like Xiu Xiu, The Poster Children, Chris Clark or even a bit of Venetian Snares. And please, for the love of God, give Debaser a rest…
