More US Government Murders

“An American helicopter bombed a village home in southern Afghanistan killing 11 people, four of them children, Afghan officials said yesterday.”(Source: The Independent)

The US “anti-terrorist” initiative continues to make impressive headway. What were their targets in this attack? Surely an evil headquarters, a nexus of anti-US aggression?

“They were simple villagers,” he said, “They were not Taliban.” – Abdul Rahman, chief of Char Chino district in Uruzgan province.(Source: The Independent)

“Four men, four children and three women were killed.”

Well done, US Armed Forces. Another great step forward in your war against war, in your campaign of murders to stop murders.

I’m sure every American citizen is a little safer thanks to your efficient termination of those children.

Strange Weather

Earlier this evening (well, yesterday now), the weather was, by British standards, quite peculiar.

There seemed to be two distinct layers of clouds. The higher one was lit by the setting sun and shining dazzling shades of gold, pink, orange and red. The lower layer seemed to be scudding by at a breakneck pace and was much darker, grey-blue, mostly.

The whole spectacle only lasted a couple of minutes till the sun set but I managed to grab a few photos of the strange light conditions. The colours aren’t quite as vivid as the real thing but that’s the photographer’s fault, not the camera’s.

Bless Playlist 19/1/2004

Busier than last week and hence more repeats but I wasn’t bothered cos I still managed to cram a load of new tunes in. This week I actually managed to fit in a lot more glitchy, groinky electronic stuff in. At last! And it went down well, I had a couple of people coming up asking me about Venetian Snares and Ellen Allien. Good stuff.

There was a great, chilled-out atmosphere in the Bless and I had some cool requests which I was happy to play. I also had queries about some of the madder pop stuff that I played so it shows people are listening and going ‘what the hell is this??’

Top old track of tonight was Husker Du’s ‘Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely.’ Top new track was The Poster Children’s ‘Western Springs’ and I’m not just saying that cos they’re on the same label as me 😉
